|
How can I increase the life of the covers?
|
Answer
|
Rotation is recommended to extend the anvil cover life.
|
Why rotate anvil covers?
|
Answer
|
When anvil covers are rotated, wear is distributed to
obtain as much use from them as possible, and it helps
improve the quality of the cutting surface
considerably.
|
When to rotate/How often?
|
Answer
|
We suggest the first rotation to take place at 150, 000
impressions and every 150,000 impressions thereafter; or
once a week if you are rotary die cutting an average of
150,000 or more each week. Remember, you must also add
about 15% to 20% to the numbers (to compensate for wear
to the covers) when the machine is running without
blanks going through.
|
How do I rotate covers?
|
Answer
|
Step 1: FIRST - Be certain to REMOVE THE CUTTING DIE.
Step 2: Insert a screwdriver between the male and female
sections of the lock to loosen corner of the cover.
Step 3: Pry the male end up from the corner all the way
across the seam. *IMPORTANT: USE SCREWDRIVER ONLY UNDER
MALE SECTION OF THE LOCK.
Step 4: Follow the Dicar supplied instruction sheet on proper rotation.
|
How much should I trim covers?
|
Answer
|
Many operators trim too deep into the covers, which
wastes useful urethane. They should only be trimming the
high spots or ridges that develop on the covers. Light
trimming of just the surface gives a level cutting
surface and maximizes cover life. Operators should
follow the machine manufacturers instructions regarding
the depth of the cut. Trimming below this point will
waste useful urethane.
