Rotofeed® Feed Wheel Segments

How do I adjust the position of the feed wheel segments?
Answer Setting Up The Feed Wheel Segments

1.Remove the gear side feed table plate.

2.Engage the interrupt clutch.

3.Bar the machine forward until the wheels make their first momentary stop (point 2).

4.Release the coupling on one feed wheel shaft, swing its wheel segments up to about mid-stroke, and reclamp the coupling.

5.Mark the surface of the wheel segment and the adjacent skate wheel cage to record this location.

6.Bar the machine BACKWARD until the mark on the feed wheel has moved .06" relative to the mark on the cage. (.09" for new wheel segments. This is point 1.)

7.Release the couplings on all feed wheel shafts and rotate all feed wheels down into the box.

8.Place a sheet of your typical board over the box.

9.Turn on vacuum blower.

10. Rotate the feed wheel segments up until they just touch the bottom of the sheet and reclamp the couplings with the wheels in this position.

11.Check the adjustment; bar the machine over a few revolutions. During dwell, the wheel segments should be .12" or .25" below the skate wheels. (Some machines have longer pre-indexes than others.) At the end of the pre-index, the feed wheels should stop briefly .00" to .03" above the skate wheels.

How can I tell if the feed wheel segments are set correctly?
Answer When set correctly, the feed wheel segments will make contact with the board just before the first momentary stop in feed wheel motion.
